“That #UNSC did not support the resolution by extending solution 2231 is a clear demonstration of the so-called “rule-based order” in which one ruler directs (NSPM-2) and E3 simply follows,” Baghaei said on X on Monday.
He emphasized that a significant portion of the council does not support a recovery of measures that have already expired. “Even so, the fact that six of the 15 councillors withdrew from ‘yes’ votes to revive E3 and all sorts of pressure from the US excludes the council’s division,” he said. “Nearly half of its members are not convinced that the E3-triggered re-equipment is justified, legitimate or legal.”
The spokesman argued that Council of Europe members misuse the process to advance US priorities. “Abuse of the E3 process cannot change legal reality. Resolution 2231 is deemed to have ended October 18, 2025, as expressly provided in the resolution itself,” Baghaei said.
“An attempt to revive E3 or the US termination sanctions is void and void.”
He also said Foreign Minister Abbas Aragut had directly communicated Tehran’s position to the foreign government. “FM Araghchi conveyed this message directly to his counterparts around the world,” Baghaei said.
