Foad Izadi, a professor of political studies at Tehran University, emphasized that if a military attack occurs on Iran, US military bases will face a rather strong attack.
In an interview with Al Jazeera, Izadi added that there has been no change in Iran’s economic ties after the revitalization of the snapback mechanism. Countries interacting with Iran continue along the same path.
At the same time, he added, it remains difficult for Iranians to embrace Western and American political promises.
Izadi said the new sanctions do not include banking or oil sales. He emphasized that the West is primarily aiming for Iran’s pressure, both politically and economically.
According to Iranian scholars, European sanctions are linked to Iran’s nuclear program, but they mainly function as psychological and media campaigns that influence public opinion within Iran, exaggerating the effects of sanctions and contributing to the devaluation of Iran’s rial.
The unfortunate UN sanctions against Iran were officially reimposed on the country early on Sunday, illegally. Iranian officials strongly rejected the move, saying that the action had no legal basis.
