“The number of victims is 102, consisting of 99 survivors and three deaths,” National Search and Rescue Director Mohammad Shafiy said at 12:30pm on Tuesday (0530 GMT).
Rescuers are looking for 38 people believed to be trapped under the tiled rub after the building collapses, the National Disaster Management Agency said.
According to the disaster management agency, 11 people were rescued from the Kawara Rub and 91 people were able to escape.
According to the agency, 77 victims were taken to several hospitals in the area to treat injuries.
“Efforts to assess the site, monitor the remaining building structures and prepare evacuation routes for victims are the main focus of the ground team,” the agency said in a statement on social media.
Another Indonesian national search and rescue agency had previously reported that “provisional data” showed 100 students had been involved in the collapse.
The Arkozinnyi Islamic Boarding School in Sidlho, East Java collapsed around 3pm on Monday as students gathered for afternoon prayer.
Authorities say the school’s foundation pillars gave way as crews embody the building’s four floors, trapping dozens of people under the debris.
The incident is the collapse of a second building in Indonesia, less than a month later.
Officials say at least three people were killed and dozens were injured when the community hall hosting the Qur’an recital collapsed in West Java’s Bogor district on September 3rd.
