Mahdi Al-Mashat made his remarks on Tuesday, calling the proposal “courage and historic” and reaffirming Yemen’s preparations to provide all forms of support for the liberation of Palestine.
Yemeni officials said his country’s military and its people were “pride” at President Gustavo Peter’s stance.
He said Yemen was already “engaged in war with the existence of Zionist enemies,” citing Sanaa’s naval blockade on Israeli ships and ships heading towards the occupied Palestinian territory.
Mashat also mentioned the army that staged numerous solidarity operations to support the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, which have been under Israeli Genocide War since October 2023.
“They performed missile and drone strikes that permeate Palestine over 2,000 kilometers (1,242 miles) of Palestine,” officials said.
“We welcome anyone who wants to continue doing so and contribute to this military effort to protect human values.”
Speaking to the UN Security Council recently, Peter made an unprecedented, bold call for “a powerful army in a country that does not embrace genocide.”
“We have to gather arms and troops, and we have to free Palestine,” he added.
The United States, the biggest ally of the Israeli regime, then decided to cancel his visa, and Peter replied, “I don’t care.”
In recognition of Yemen’s support for the stance, Peter published a post on his X account, which reads “in the Arab world, within the human race itself.”
The observer said his thanks demonstrated the recognition of Colombia’s head of state that his idea has gained traction worldwide, including Arab countries.
The President of Colombia also personally thanked Mashat in another post.
