Several cities have demonstrated against President Donald Trump’s illegal immigration and the crackdown on National Guard deployment, RT reported.
Hundreds of protesters marched into detention facilities, blocking the road in front of the building, according to Oregon Public Broadcasting (OPB). Federal agents fired tear gas, smoke cans and pepper balls to disperse the crowd.
OPB said at least seven people have been arrested. Two of them were released a few hours later. Meanwhile, Portland police said two more were taken into custody later that day, one of them carrying a chemical spray and a folding metal baton.
On the same day, a federal judge blocked the deployment of the National Guard in Portland until he withheld further discussion of the lawsuit filed by the state and city.
Trump allowed the dispatch of national security guards to Chicago on Saturday, when border patrol officers thrust into the country and “boxed in 10 cars,” according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Officials said federal agents shot dead a female driver who had a gun.
Hours later, they protested outside an ice processing facility in Broadview near Chicago, and also swirled into clashes with police, during which several arrests were made.
