According to a Washington Post poll, many American Jews have sharply disapproved of Israel’s actions of war in Gaza, saying Israel committed war crimes, with four in ten saying the administration is guilty of genocide against the Palestinians.
The findings are surprising given the longstanding relationship between the US Jewish community and Israel, suggesting possible historical violations of the Gaza War.

American Jews are particularly unhappy with the current Israeli cabinet. 68% gave Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Israeli leadership a negative mark, with 48% rating it as “poor.”

The Gaza War also tore Israel’s own population apart, protesting policies that are regularly taking tens of thousands of Zionists onto the streets and segregated the world. Many Zionists say Netanyahu is extending the war for his own political interests.
The growing gap between American Jews and Israel could also affect American politics. Top Democrats, including Jewish lawmakers, are far more critical than they have in the past, and they are undoubtedly at a lower risk of backlash from Jewish voters who are deeply skeptical of Netanyahu.

Max Park, 38, a software engineer in Brooklyn, said the fastest way to improve Gaza conditions is for the US to limit or impose conditions on aid to Israel.
“The Jewish principles would say we need to respect the humanity of everyone,” he said. “In Israel, that’s not the case. We privilege Jews with countless policies without following the principles of actual Jews.”
