According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, following obstructive and unfounded claims made in a joint statement by the PGCC and the EU foreign ministers (such as support for the UAE’s unfounded claims over Iran’s Greater Thumb, Minor Thumb and Abu Musa islands, as well as comments on Iran’s national defense and nuclear program), Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Majid Takut Ravansi summoned a European envoy and was introduced to Iran’s strong protest.
Foreign Minister Takt Ravansi reaffirmed Iran’s absolute and lasting sovereignty over Iran’s territory over Greater Thumbu, Minor Thumbu and Abu Musa as an inseparable part of Iranian territory, and accused the EU of supporting unfounded claims by PGCC members of the country of PGCC as a violation of the principle of respect for national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He also rejected the EU’s comments on Iran’s missile programme, as being overt interference in Iran’s internal affairs. Foreign Minister Takt Ravansi stressed that Iran’s inherent defense capabilities, including missile power, are part of Iran’s inherent self-defense rights, and that these capabilities are sources of regional stability and security.
The Iranian senior diplomat criticized the noncompliance, inefficiency and malice of the JCPOA’s three European parties (France, Germany and the UK), noting that the EU, a coordinating country of the JCPOA Joint Committee, has not only failed to fulfill its promises alongside the three European countries, but also abused the conflict resolution mechanism, leading to obstruction of diplomatic disruption and impasse.
He concluded that the EU should respond to its disruptive actions rather than repeating its unfounded, politically motivated claims about Iran’s nuclear program.
On Tuesday, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Bagai dismissed interventionist and unfounded claims raised in a joint statement between the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) and the European Union, including repeated unfounded claims by the United Arab Emirates regarding Iran’s Greater Thumb, Lesser Thumb and Abu Musa islands, as well as interference in Iran’s defense and nuclear issues.
Bagai warned against the divisive and destructive interference of some European countries on issues of the Persian Gulf region, highlighting Iran’s absolute and enduring sovereignty over the three islands as an inseparable part of territorial integrity.
He stressed that repeating unfounded claims in political statements has no legal value and does not change geographical or historical reality.
