Following the announcement of the ceasefire agreement, Hazem Kassim said today that the Israeli regime is trying to exploit the provisions regarding the list of prisoners and withdrawal from Gaza, and is avoiding discussion on these issues.
He stressed that the key issue is creating on-the-ground conditions for a prisoner exchange.
Qassim said the ceasefire agreement marks the end of the brutal war against the Palestinian people.
Meanwhile, Hamas announced through an official statement early this morning that a ceasefire agreement was reached during negotiations in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.
Indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israel began on Monday, mediated by Egypt, Qatar and Turkey, with the aim of reviewing US President Donald Trump’s 20-article ceasefire proposal.
Following the ceasefire announcement, Arab and Israeli media reported at noon local time that the first phase of the ceasefire had begun. However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office quickly denied its implementation, saying it would only be implemented after Israeli Cabinet approval.
