Authorities announced Saturday that six more police officers were killed in the gunfight.
Following the attack on the Latta Krachi Police Training Academy in Dera Ismail Khan district, three terrorists were earlier neutralized in retaliatory firing by police personnel, and several others are said to have barricaded themselves inside the compound.
Three more terrorists were killed and six more police officers were killed during a clearance operation late Friday night.
Earlier, the death of one police officer was reported, bringing the number of security personnel killed in the attack to seven and 13 police officers injured.
Officials said all trainees and staff were evacuated to a safe location.
The operation involved SSG special forces, Al-Burq forces, elite forces, and police personnel.
The incident occurred late Friday night when terrorists rammed a truck loaded with explosives into the main gate of the police training academy, causing a massive explosion.
Immediately after the explosion, terrorists wearing various uniforms rushed into the compound and opened fire indiscriminately. Police personnel retaliated and surrounded the assailants. As the gunfight continued, the insurgents continued to throw grenades.
