Ali Akbar Velayati, Secretary-General of the World Council for Islamic Awakening, praised the event as a “fortunate and timely initiative” held at a critical time for the Islamic world, in a message to the Expert Council on Gaza’s Child Martyrs.
Velayati stressed that although the Palestinian state has endured occupation, military repression, economic blockade and psychological warfare for more than 70 years, it has never strayed from the path of freedom and resistance. He said the martyrdom of Muhammad al-Durrah and thousands of Palestinian children had become a global symbol of both innocence and solid dignity.
He added that recent developments once again demonstrate the resilience of the Palestinian resistance, as Israel’s brutal assault on Gaza, targeting schools, hospitals and residential areas, was met with a strong response that shifted the balance of power and thwarted the occupier’s objectives.
Velayati noted that after months of invasion and failure to achieve its stated goals, the Zionist regime was forced to accept a ceasefire that clearly recognized military and political defeat and the resistance’s victory.
He concluded that true peace will only be achieved when the occupation ends, Palestinian refugees return to their homeland, and the Palestinian people live freely and honorably on the land, with al-Quds as their eternal capital.
In his message, Mr. Ali Akbar Velayati stressed that today, the world’s hegemonic regimes face more chaos and decline than ever before in the face of the truth of resistance and the awakening of nations. He said the soft power of Islamic resistance is undermining the so-called legitimacy of Zionism and its Western supporters, exposing the true face of those who falsely claim to defend democracy and human rights.
