A source told Tasnim news agency that the Iranian government will not attend the Sharm el-Sheikh summit despite receiving an invitation.
Earlier, Hamas Politburo member Hussam Badran confirmed that Hamas would not intervene in Egypt’s formal signing of the ceasefire in Gaza.
Badran dismissed as absurd and meaningless claims suggesting that Hamas leaders would withdraw from Gaza under US President Donald Trump’s plan, stressing that no Palestinian would agree to such a proposal.
He also warned that Hamas would counter any new Israeli aggression, noting that the next stage of negotiations with Israel will be more difficult and complex.
Yesterday, the Egyptian Presidency announced that a peace summit aimed at ending the war in Gaza will be held on Monday in the city of Sharm el-Sheikh. The summit, co-chaired by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi and US President Donald Trump, will include leaders from more than 20 countries and is expected to formally sign the Gaza ceasefire agreement during the summit.
