Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has invited the charge d’affaires of the Omani embassy in Tehran to the ministry regarding rumors that two people have died in the country after consuming mineral water imported from Iran.
Following unsubstantiated speculations by some Omani media that the deaths of two people in Oman were caused by the ingestion of mineral water imported from Iran, the charge d’affaires of the Omani embassy in Tehran was invited to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday by Abdul Rasoul Shabibi, second director general of the Persian Gulf at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Second Persian Gulf Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Iran’s official protest against the negative media atmosphere regarding mineral water imports from Iran and called for accelerated elucidation of the main issues.
“It is inappropriate for an incident that had nothing to do with drinking water by an Iranian company and was actually a criminal case between family members motivated by revenge to be used as a basis for labeling products imported from Iran,” he stressed.
The Minister in Charge of the Omani Embassy stressed the importance of maintaining the long-standing good relations between the two countries, while stressing that the issue would be brought to the attention of the relevant authorities in the country as soon as possible.
It is recalled that, according to reliable information, the death of an Omani national and a foreign family servant was a criminal case.
