Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ismail Baghai addressed weekly reporters on Monday, rejecting criticism of Tehran’s absence from the Sharm el-Sheikh summit and stressing that influence in the region is not defined by physical presence at the event.
He said Iran’s role and influence in regional development “is not limited to its participation or non-participation in international gatherings.”
The spokesperson added that over the past two years, Iran has been one of the countries most actively pressuring the Zionist regime and its allies to end the genocide in Gaza, and has engaged extensively at both the regional and international levels, including with the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baghaei responded to President Donald Trump’s recent remarks thanking Iran for the Gaza ceasefire agreement, saying Iran’s position has already been clearly stated in two official statements and there is no need to repeat it. He added that Iran welcomes any action that truly alleviates the suffering of the Palestinian people and puts an end to the ongoing genocide, stressing that Iran will continue to express its principled position regardless of political noise.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baghaei said that after more than 700 days of massacres in Gaza, Iran’s position on the issue has become very clear, with the Israeli regime reaching an understanding to halt its attacks.
Given the region’s past experience and the Israeli regime’s record of breaching its commitments, the international community and regional states must remain vigilant to ensure that the Israeli regime does not repeat its long-standing habit of violating agreements.
Commenting on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s statement regarding the Israeli regime’s message to Iran, Bagai noted that Tehran listens to proposals from friendly countries but remains extremely vigilant about developments in the region. Given the Zionist regime’s history of deception, he stressed that “Iran will remain vigilant at all levels.”
