The meeting, held at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday, focused on recent regional developments related to the Caspian Sea and coordination among the five coastal countries.
Both sides confirmed the progress of preparations for the 7th Caspian Sea Coastal States Summit, scheduled to be held in Iran in August 2026, and the 1st International Conference of Governors of the Caspian Sea Region, scheduled to be held in Gilan Province, northern Iran, on November 18th and 19th.
Both officials emphasized the positive and constructive cooperation between Iran and Russia on the Caspian Sea issue and stressed the need to continue bilateral and multilateral consultations on issues of mutual concern, such as joint management of biological resources and environmental protection, combating drug trafficking, and expanding cooperation in transportation, transit, and trade.
The two leaders also reaffirmed their common position to prevent involvement of extra-regional forces in the Caspian Sea issue.
