“We also negotiated with the United States, but the United States attacked our country during the negotiations. We support dialogue, but we will not give in to excessive demands. Our people will not tolerate giving in to such demands either,” Aref said in comments Friday at a meeting with entrepreneurs in Yazd province.
The vice president added: “The United States has said that Iran must accept terms before negotiations can begin, but we do not accept that approach to negotiations.”
Aref accused the United States of pretending to support human rights and dialogue, saying the United States carried out the military attack during negotiations to force Iran to surrender. “Yet, the (Iranian) people stood on the ground and proved that they will never give up.”
Last week, Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said that although there were no requests or plans for talks with the United States or Europe, he was ready to consider fair, balanced and reasonable proposals made on the basis of mutual respect and equality that protect the interests of the Iranian people.
