The conference, chaired by Iran’s Deputy Parliament Speaker Hamidreza Hajibabai, will run until October 23.
During the five-day conference, the Iranian parliamentary delegation, in addition to attending plenary sessions and specialized committees, will hold bilateral meetings with heads of parliament and members of various parliaments in order to expand parliamentary cooperation and exchange views on the most important regional and international issues.
On this occasion, all IPU statutory bodies will meet, including the Governing Council, the Standing Committee, the Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights and Middle East Affairs, the Women’s Parliamentary Forum and the Young Parliamentary Forum.
Parliament is also expected to adopt a resolution on urgent matters and a targeted matter taken up by the Standing Committee on Democracy and Human Rights entitled “Recognizing and supporting victims of illegal intercountry adoption and taking measures to stop this practice”.
The General Assembly will announce the winners of the 2025 Cremer-Pasy Award, which honors parliamentarians who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in this year’s IPU theme of gender equality.
