“I’m not a king. I’m working (hard) to make this country great. That’s all,” he told reporters after returning to Washington on Sunday, stressing, “I’m not a king at all,” Anadolu Agency (AA) reported.
He downplayed the demonstrations, describing them as a “joke” and claiming they were funded by billionaire philanthropist George Soros and “other far-left lunatics.”
“I saw people. They were not representative of this country. The demonstrations were very small, very ineffective, and people were beaten up,” he said.
Millions of demonstrators gathered across the United States on Saturday to protest President Trump and his administration, many citing threats to democracy, free speech and the environment as they took to the streets.
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), one of the organizers, said 7 million people participated in more than 2,500 “No King” rallies in all 50 states.
