Russia’s special representative for Syria is visiting Tehran and is scheduled to meet with Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghai told reporters on Monday.
Bagai said Putin’s special envoy will meet with the Secretary of the Supreme Council of State Security on Monday afternoon.
A senior Iranian diplomat said these contacts are part of cooperation and consultations between the two countries in various fields.
Larijani, who also serves as an adviser to the leader, visited Russia on Thursday morning.
During the visit, Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme Council for National Security, handed the Russian president a message from the leader of the Islamic revolution during a meeting in Moscow.
The two sides discussed a wide range of issues including bilateral relations, economic cooperation, regional development, and international affairs.
President Putin said last week that he asked Israeli authorities to send a message to Iran that they do not seek further confrontation with Iran and want a de-escalation of tensions.
