According to Mehr News Agency, in a letter dated October 21, President Massoud Pezeshkian informed relevant administrative bodies about the law approving Iran’s accession to the International Convention for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism, which was previously passed by Iran’s parliament.
The letter was addressed to the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Information, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Economy and Finance, and Central Bank of Iran.
The presidential decree states that in accordance with Article 123 of the Iranian Constitution, the law was first approved by Parliament in December 2018 and was later approved by the Council of Expediency with certain amendments and reservations.
It is also stated, under Article 125 of the Constitution, that the implementation of the provisions of this Convention is conditional on the completion of the procedures set out in Article 26 of the Convention.
