Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baghaei described the Knesset’s decision as “another step in the Zionist regime’s criminal and colonial expansionism,” stressing that it marks the continuation of 80 years of systematic violations of the Palestinian people’s fundamental right to self-determination.
He added that the move clearly violates strong norms of international law, especially those that guarantee the right of states to determine their own destiny.
Mr. Baggaei further pointed out that the continuing serious violations of human rights and humanitarian law in the West Bank are occurring concurrently with the genocide in Gaza. He said that the policies declared and implemented by Israel, including the fantasy of a “Greater Israel,” the establishment of new settlements, and new legislative actions in the Knesset, clearly demonstrate a comprehensive plan of ethnic cleansing across all occupied Palestinian territories.
The spokesperson stressed that this reality increases the responsibility of all governments to take effective measures to prevent the “decolonial erasure” of Palestine.
He called on Islamic countries and the international community to take immediate action to stop Israel’s blatant violation of the historic rights of the Palestinian people, and called on the United Nations to fulfill its responsibility to stop Israel’s persistent violations of Palestinian identity and rights.
