The commander of the Revolutionary Guards Navy spoke at a ceremony in Bushehr, southern Iran, on Saturday, praising the role played by martyred soldiers defending the country at different periods in history.
He emphasized that Iran opposes the presence of foreign forces from outside the region under the guise of coming to the Persian Gulf region for security purposes, saying, “Countries in the region can maintain the security of the Persian Gulf’s strategic waterways.”
General Tansiri added that “the presence of foreign forces and arms sales to regional countries is just an excuse for the continued illegal presence of foreign forces.”
“Today, our armed forces, including the Revolutionary Guards Navy and the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran, did their best to ensure the security of the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf. The world owes much to the blood of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives to keep this strategic strait open.”
It is worth mentioning that the Revolutionary Guards Navy is responsible for the security of the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, while the Iranian Army and Navy is responsible for the security of the waters beyond the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz in the Sea of Oman and the northern Indian Ocean.
