The two officials also discussed bilateral relations, global and regional issues, particularly US expansionist policies and interventions in other parts of the world, and the US government’s support for crimes committed by the Zionist regime in Gaza.
Mr. Velayati said that Iran-China relations are of a strategic and deep-rooted nature and that cooperation between the two countries has the potential to further develop in light of the ongoing regional and global changes, underscoring the depth of the two countries’ historic and distinguished ties.
He added that relations between Iran and China are based on common interests, mutual respect and political independence.
“In Asia, three independent powers – Iran, China and Russia – are playing influential roles in shaping the emerging world order,” Velayati said.
The senior advisor also expressed appreciation for China’s principled stance towards Iran, especially regarding the JCPOA snapback mechanism, and said China’s constructive support in international forums reflects the depth of friendly cooperation and mutual trust between the two countries.
Mr. Kong Peiwu said that the history of Iran-China relations is long and valuable, and highly praised Mr. Velayati’s important role over the years in strengthening bilateral relations.
The ambassador added that the development of relations with Iran has always been of special importance to China, and expressed his gratitude for the consideration given by Islamic Revolution leader Ayatollah Khamenei to expanding bilateral cooperation.
The envoy also expressed China’s readiness to deepen relations with Iran in various fields.
