According to a report by Press TV, the president made the remarks on Wednesday during a meeting with Alhaji Mullah Mohammad Ibrahim Sadr, Afghanistan’s Senior Deputy Minister for Security Affairs at the Ministry of Interior, who led a high-level delegation to Tehran to attend the 4th Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Interior Ministers’ Meeting.
During the meeting, Momeni said that the friendly relations between Iran and Afghanistan are deeply rooted in history, and the two countries have more in common in the cultural and religious fields.
Momeni stressed that the two countries’ brotherly ties and relations with neighboring countries are now on a growth trajectory.
The Iranian Interior Minister took this opportunity to appreciate Afghanistan’s constructive stance in condemning the Zionist regime’s attacks on Iranian soil, and emphasized Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s emphasis on resolving issues between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Momeni said Iran was ready to cooperate with Afghanistan in security, transportation and technology fields.
The visiting Afghan Deputy Minister of Interior expressed his gratitude to Iran for hosting the 4th Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Interior Ministers’ Meeting, adding that Iran has never spared efforts to provide assistance to Afghanistan under any circumstances.
Muhammad Ibrahim Sadr pointed to the long-term occupation of Afghanistan by the United States, noting that this occupation had brought nothing but destruction to Afghanistan.
