A June 20 missile attack launched during the war with Iran caused severe damage to the interior of the rocket tower, forcing all tenants to evacuate until repairs can be completed, Press TV reported.
Among those evacuated was the Haifa district prosecutor’s office, which is Israel’s busiest investigating major criminal cases.
Since then, prosecutors say they have been operating in a makeshift situation, with no access to case files, printers or even photocopiers.
“It makes me laugh when people read the headline ‘collapse of the rule of law’ and think it’s about a political battle between the attorney general and the government,” one lawyer told local media.
“Anyone who wants to see a real breakdown of the rule of law should come here. We are the busiest homicide office in Israel and we don’t even have a copy machine,” he added.
As investigations and court schedules continue, many people are working from improvised shared workspaces at home or at local cafes.
“We have been moved to another building, but we don’t have enough desks or computers,” one prosecutor said, adding: “That’s why we work in shifts. Those who are scheduled for that day are given a desk. The rest of us work in cafes, in the courthouse hallways, or from home if possible.”
This situation also significantly strained relations between the prosecutor’s office and the union, leading to a vote to withdraw. The move was motivated by “complete disregard by the national commission and its chairperson.”
On June 13, the Israeli regime launched a series of airstrikes against the Islamic Republic with unprecedented US military and intelligence support.
The Iranian military initially responded with a comprehensive defense maneuver.
But soon after, they launched a swift, powerful, and unyielding counterattack, launching precision strikes against key nuclear, military, and industrial targets deep inside the occupied Palestinian territories.
The brutal retaliation, codenamed Operation True Promise III, involved the deployment of hundreds of ballistic missiles, many of them multi-warhead supersonic missiles, and numerous armed drones.
The airstrikes hit the center of Tel Aviv, the regime’s economic stronghold. Haifa, its important deep-water port. and Beersheba, the center of modern development and technology for the Zionist organization.
Feeling the heat of retaliation, the regime was forced to call for a cease-fire 12 days later, even though it had state-of-the-art U.S. missile systems ready to intercept Iranian artillery fire.
