The Iranian publisher focuses on the story of Basij martyr Hossein Fahamide, a symbol of national courage.
To make his achievements known to younger generations, four different books have been published that provide unique perspectives on his life.
These works range from fictionalized novels of his childhood to pocket-sized biographies, all designed to make his ultimate act of sacrifice relatable to children and adolescents.
Through engaging stories and accessible formats, these publications aim to instill the values of selflessness, courage and resilience exemplified by young martyrs.
The story of Basij martyr Hossein Famideh, a young hero of the imposed war of 1980-1988, continues to inspire new generations.
On September 22, 1980, Saddam Hussein’s Ba’athist regime, with support from world powers, launched a brutal invasion of Iran.
In a decisive sacrificial act to stop the advance of enemy tanks into Khorramshahr, 13-year-old Hossein strapped a grenade to his body, threw himself under the path of the tanks, and is said to have been martyred on October 30, 1980.
His ultimate sacrifice cemented his status as a national symbol of courage and selflessness.
Several books have been published to inform children and young people about his life and achievements. The following four works offer different perspectives on this young hero’s story.
“Famide-san”

Written by Mohadesev-Sadat Tabatabay and illustrated by Saeed Shams, this novel, published by Bookak Publications, presents a fictionalized account of the martyr’s life for young readers. Written in simple and fluent prose, the story begins with Hossein’s childhood in Qom and his family’s move to Karaj when he was between 10 and 12 years old. The author creates an intimate and empathetic atmosphere, allowing young readers to empathize with the main character and understand his motives for wanting to join the front lines. The story thoughtfully depicts the family’s concerns and highlights Hossein’s determined decision-making, showing how grand acts of courage can emerge from everyday life and small personal plans.
“Little Warrior, Fahmide”

This 110-page book written by Qassem Karimi and published by Rale Publishing is part of a collection dedicated to telling the modern history of the Sacred Defense. The film aims to acquaint a generation of Iranians with the depth and grandeur of the sacrifices made during the eight years of war, which played a pivotal role in shaping the destiny of the Iranian people. This book focuses on expressing the core objectives, pivotal events, and memories of the war without delving too deeply into analysis, making it an essential source for young readers to understand this important period.
“Martyr Fahamide”

This book, written by Mohammadreza Aslani, is part of the “Chehel Cheragh” collection, published by Madreseh Publications under the supervision of Educational Aid and Publications.
The series profiles prominent figures from the last century in Islamic Iran and aims to provide idealistic young people with role models to guide their lives and ways of thinking.
This book introduces young readers to the glorious life of Martyr Fahamide, a man who spread a unique scent of patriotism and played an important role in enriching the culture and civilization of the country.
“Identification Card of Martyr Mohammad Hossein Famideh”

This valuable work is the seventh volume of the series “Identity Documents of Martyrs”. The book records his memories from birth to martyrdom in a design that resembles a real identity card in a convenient 15 x 11 cm pocket size.
A unique feature is the “Pledge” at the end, which allows the reader to form a heavenly friendship with the martyrs and get even closer to their actions.
Its compact design makes it easy to carry on pilgrimages such as the ‘Rahian-e-Noor’ tour, and also makes a perfect gift for youth and young adults, encouraging them to strengthen their spirit of sacrifice, courage and resilience.
Hossein Famideh’s enduring legacy shows how a single story told through the accessible medium of children’s literature can be passed down through generations.
These four publications represent a joint effort to connect past and present, ensuring that the values that Fahamideh embodied are not confined to the history books, but remain vibrant and relevant.
These authors and publishers offer more than just a biography by turning one of history’s greatest acts of sacrifice into a relatable story of childhood determination. They provide a moral compass.
The ultimate success of this endeavor lies in the hands of young readers. Through these pages, readers are invited not only to learn about the hero but also to internalize the spirit of responsibility, courage, and love for the nation he so powerfully represented.
Through the passing of this torch, the story of a 13-year-old boy from decades ago continues to shape Iran’s future character.
