In his weekly program “Con Maduro+” broadcast on state broadcaster Venezolana de Television (VTV), the president stressed that he maintains “routine and permanent communication” with Vladimir Putin’s government on “many developing issues,” including in the military field, EI Mundo America reported.
President Maduro praised the nature of bilateral relations, saying that Russia, as a world power, can build relations of equality, respect and cooperation with countries like Venezuela. He stressed that the relationship is “exemplary” because Putin’s Russia does not have “imperialist ambitions” and has built a model based on respect for international law and cooperation for mutual development.
The partnership with the Eurasian giant extends beyond the military sector and is also progressing in key areas such as industry, science, technology, economics, finance and tourism. The governments of Venezuela and Russia have signed numerous agreements covering trade, energy, education, military, combating drug trafficking, and security, including intelligence and counterintelligence agreements. In fact, Russia and Venezuela signed a strategic partnership agreement last May during President Maduro’s visit to Moscow.
