“The recurrence of devastating earthquakes in parts of northern Afghanistan, resulting in the loss of many lives and severe damage, has caused deep sadness and regret,” Iran’s top diplomat said in a message posted on his X account on Tuesday.
Araghchi said the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to send relief supplies to earthquake-hit areas in Afghanistan.
Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the Afghan government and people, as well as the families of the victims, and prayed for the early recovery of those injured in this incident.
Araghchi stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran has declared its readiness to immediately dispatch humanitarian aid and relief materials to the earthquake-affected areas of Afghanistan.
A devastating earthquake shook Afghanistan’s northern provinces on the night of November 3, causing extensive damage to buildings and infrastructure. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the epicenter was 37 kilometers northwest of Mazar-e-Sharif, a city of about 523,000 people. The hotspot was at a depth of 10 kilometers.
