Passengers were deplaned from the United plane and taken to the terminal by bus, NBC News reported, Reagan Airport announced on social media.
According to the airport, flights are currently suspended.
Departures to DCA have been canceled due to safety concerns, according to a notice from the Federal Aviation Administration.
“The FAA is aware of a reported safety incident on an aircraft at Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). Passengers have been removed and the aircraft has been removed from the terminal while the agency investigates,” the FAA said in a statement.
Video shows people disembarking from a United Airlines plane parked near the Potomac River, away from the terminal. Passengers were seen walking along the tarmac where at least two buses were believed to be waiting. Multiple law enforcement vehicles were seen near the bus carrying people.
