President Trump took responsibility for Friday’s first attack on Israel.
According to Al Jazeera, President Trump’s claims were made at a time when the US government quickly distanced itself from the attack.
But President Trump is increasingly taking credit for the outcome of wars.
“Israel attacked first. That attack was very powerful,” the US president told reporters. “I had a lot of responsibility for that. When Israel first attacked Iran, that attack did more damage than all the other countries combined, so that was a great day for Israel.”
President Trump’s comments came amid calls for Republicans to end the filibuster rule that allows legislation to pass with a simple majority in the Senate. He argued that the party should first tackle the filibuster, just as Israel started its war against Iran.
Iran’s devastating retaliatory response forced the US and Israeli regimes to call for an end to the war 12 days later.
