The memorandum of understanding was signed during Fars Governor Hossein Ali Amiri’s visit to Uzbekistan and his meeting with Surkandarya Governor Ulugbek Kosimov.
Representatives from both sides attended the meeting.
In this meeting, both sides pointed out that the relationship between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran has entered a new strategic phase over the past year, and emphasized the importance of strengthening regional cooperation and expanding working relations in the fields of trade, economy, investment, culture, and society.
Mr. Amiri considered it necessary to establish a joint executive committee in both provinces to implement the MoU and expand the presence of the Iranian private sector in Fars province in the commercial port and free economic zone of Termez, the capital of Surkandarya province.
