According to reports, during the meeting, President Trump expressed his gratitude to Al-Jolani and praised his efforts in successfully guiding the transition phase.
President Trump emphasized that he stands ready to provide Syria with the necessary assistance to ensure the success of Syria’s reconstruction and development process.
During the talks, the two countries agreed to continue the March 10 agreement, which included the integration of the Syrian Democratic Forces into the Syrian Army.
President Trump also reaffirmed his country’s commitment to continue lifting sanctions imposed on Syria under the so-called “Caesar Act.”
Al-Jolani’s visit comes days after he was removed from Washington’s global terrorist blacklist and the United Nations Security Council voted to lift sanctions against him. He will seek U.S. assistance in rebuilding Syria and the lifting of all remaining sanctions on the war-torn economy, a move that would require approval from both President Trump and Congress.
