A father and daughter were killed Monday in Florida when a small plane headed for Jamaica on a hurricane relief mission crashed, the department said.
Alexander Worm, 53, and his daughter Selina Worm, 22, died when their plane crashed into a ditch in a residential area of Coral Springs, outside Fort Lauderdale.
The Ignite Fire Department released a statement Monday night saying Alexander Wurm was known for his “warmth and unwavering kindness” and “dedicated his life to the service of others.”
“Alex traveled extensively throughout his life, reaching different countries and continents, where he worked tirelessly to bring faith, compassion and support to those in need. His legacy of faith and compassion touched countless people,” the ministry added.
The ministry said Serena Wurm “followed in her father’s footsteps, being a beacon of empathy and hope and an inspiration to all with her commitment to humanitarian work.”
It added: “Together, their final journeys exemplified selflessness and courage and reminded us of the power of service and love.”
Alexander and Serena Ulm are survived by his wife and mother, Candace, and two children, son James, 17, and daughter Christiana, 20.
