Pakistani newspapers and television widely reported on Monday night’s massive explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort that killed nine people and injured 20 others.
Several major Pakistani publications, including Dawn, Geo News, Express Tribune, News International and Pakistan Today, featured the incident on their front pages and websites, highlighting that the blast was being investigated under India’s anti-terrorism laws.
Dawn, Pakistan’s leading English-language daily, reported the latest headline as “Delhi Police says car explosion is being investigated under anti-terrorism laws.” The copy quoted Indian police officials as saying the explosion was being investigated under laws used to fight terrorism, adding that forensic experts were examining evidence to determine the cause of what was said to be “the first such explosion in this city in more than a decade.”
In an earlier update, Spokesman Dawn reported on the incident under the headline “Blast near New Delhi’s Red Fort kills 8 people” and noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had reviewed the situation with Home Minister Amit Shah and other senior officials.
