Foreign Minister Ali Nikzad, speaking at the Inter-Parliamentary Conference in Islamabad, said that Iran has always been an example of peaceful coexistence throughout its history and continues to pursue inclusive peace based on justice, human dignity and national freedom.
He stressed that true peace cannot be imposed through coercion, occupation or apartheid, and that the Israeli regime’s aggressive and warmongering policies are the main cause of instability in the region.
Nikzad added that the United States, which supports Tel Aviv and fuels numerous conflicts and extremist groups, cannot claim to bring peace by imposing war.
Iran’s Vice-Chairman said peace and security cannot be imported from elsewhere, stressing that the most important step to achieving stability in the region is ending interference by foreign countries, especially the United States.
Referring to the situation in Gaza, he said the Palestinian issue remains the true measure of global commitment to human rights and condemned Western countries’ silence and complicity in the crimes that the Israeli regime continues to commit.
President Nikzad reaffirmed Iran’s support for all efforts aimed at halting the genocide in Gaza, ending the occupation, and restoring the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, including the right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state with al-Quds as its capital.
The lawmaker stressed that Iran’s resistance during the 12-day standoff shows that the illegitimate Zionist regime will only retreat in the face of decisive force.
Nikzad highlighted the achievements Iran has made despite decades of sanctions and pressure, saying economic and political coercion cannot bring the country to its knees. He called for international relations based on dialogue, mutual respect and fair cooperation, and stressed that the era of hegemony is over.
He further emphasized the vital role of parliaments as the true voice of nations, saying that parliaments must act as builders of peace, not as bystanders of war.
He said Congress should lead governments to de-escalation and accountability on human rights and international law, adding that peace comes through action and will, not just slogans.
Concluding his remarks, Mr. Nikzad expressed Iran’s full support for the Islamabad Declaration, calling it a potential model for ethical governance, peacebuilding and sustainable development.
ISC 2025, with the theme ‘Peace, Security and Development’, was held in Islamabad from November 10th to 12th.
