Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said the G7 member states’ repeated irresponsible stance in supporting the illegal and unjust actions of three European countries and the United States, which abused the JCPOA dispute settlement mechanism to reinstate a previously lifted UN Security Council resolution against Iran, is tantamount to supporting internationally illegal acts.
He stressed that the G7’s position in no way legitimizes or justifies the illegal and unjust actions of the three European countries and the United States.
The spokesperson cited the illegal military attacks by the Israeli regime and the US against Iran and its peaceful nuclear facilities, and said it was hypocritical and interventionist for the G7 to ask Iran to cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), without making any mention of joint crimes committed by the US and Israeli regimes.
He emphasized that the United States is the main cause of the current situation due to its illegal and unilateral withdrawal from the JCPOA in 2018 and military attacks on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities.
It added that the three European countries not only committed a serious violation of their JCPOA obligations by following the lead of the United States but failed to fulfill their commitments and supporting the military invasion of the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities, but also ignored all Iranian initiatives and efforts to advance diplomacy with clear malice.
