“In the current situation, there are no intermediary or indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States,” Foreign Minister Azizi said on Saturday.
“Considering the process that the Americans have gone through in the past period, negotiations with them will not bring us any results, but it will be a waste of time,” he added.
The head of Iran’s National Security Committee added: “Therefore, we have no plans for negotiations and no action has been taken in this regard.”
The lawmaker compared the US’ proposal for dialogue to an order and rejected the US’s excessive demands.
“What the United States is proposing under the guise of consultations is more like a command or an order, and no country that enjoys national power, a great nation, and the support of its people, especially the Islamic Republic of Iran, would ever engage in such negotiations,” he said.
Iran and the United States held five rounds of indirect talks regarding Iran’s nuclear program before Israel launched a war against the Islamic Republic, including an attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities.
Brokered by Oman, the sixth round of talks was scheduled to be held in Muscat, but was canceled due to Israeli attacks.
The invasion left more than 1,000 people dead, including many senior Islamic Republic military officials and commanders.
Instead of condemning the act of terrorism, the United States attacked three Iranian nuclear facilities, an act the Iranian government described as a betrayal of diplomacy.
Iran called on the United States and Europe to show good faith if they want to restore trust with Iran, stressing that they must respect the rights of the Islamic Republic and stop making excessive demands.
