Two Zionist officials said Israel is not opposed to the US selling F-35 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia, but would like to make it conditional on Saudi Arabia normalizing relations with Israel.
Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) is scheduled to meet with President Trump at the White House on Tuesday. The F-35 contract, the U.S.-Saudi security agreement, and the possibility of normalizing diplomatic relations with Israel will be among the main topics of discussion.
According to Axios, President Trump said in a phone call with the Saudi crown prince last month that he hoped the end of the Gaza conflict would see Saudi Arabia move toward normalization with Israel.
On Friday, President Trump told reporters on Air Force One while traveling from Washington to Florida that he would discuss with MBS the possibility of Saudi Arabia normalizing relations with Israel.
“We hope that Saudi Arabia will conclude the Abraham Accords soon,” he said.
President Trump has acknowledged that he is considering a possible arms deal with Saudi Arabia that would include F-35 fighter jets.
