According to Mehr News Agency, citing president.ir, the official website of the Iranian presidential palace, at a ceremony held in Tehran on Tuesday, President Pezeshikian emphasized the importance of revitalizing the Joint Economic Commission between Iran and Ghana, and expressed strong interest in expanding cooperation in trade, investment, and various economic fields.
Noting the long-standing friendship between Iran and Ghana, which is rooted in mutual respect and historical ties, the Iranian President urged the new ambassador to use his mission in Tehran to further deepen economic, political and cultural ties between the two countries.
He also emphasized that effective utilization of existing capabilities and continued constructive engagement with Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs are important to achieving these goals.
Ambassador Akanbon recognized Iran’s rich history and culture and expressed his enthusiasm for his new role. He conveyed greetings from Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama, who reiterated Ghana’s commitment to support Iran at international forums.
The Ambassador also condemned the war recently imposed on Iran and stressed the importance of resolving global conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy.
As both countries are active members of the Non-Aligned Movement, he pledged to work diligently to strengthen bilateral relations, stressing that enhanced cooperation in various fields could bring great mutual benefits to both countries.
Ambassador Akanbon emphasized the strategic importance of the Joint Cooperation Committee between Iran and Ghana and pledged continued communication with the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to revitalize it.
He described Iran as a reliable partner and stressed the importance of mutual capability exchange to promote the development of both countries. Strengthening cooperation across economic, political, cultural, scientific and technological fields could lead to substantial mutual benefits, the envoy asserted.
