In a post on the X account on Thursday, Iran’s top diplomat said that the Cairo agreement between Iran and the IAEA has officially ended, reacting to the illegal and unjust actions of three European countries and the United States in drafting an anti-Iran resolution to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA Board of Governors) board.
Iran had already warned against passing the resolution.
Yesterday, IAEA Director-General Rafael Mariano Grossi confirmed that IAEA inspectors had returned to Iran and conducted inspections at facilities that were not affected by the June attacks.
Iran said IAEA inspections continued to operate in non-bombed areas.
“By taking this action and ignoring Iran’s exchanges and goodwill, these countries are nullifying the institution and its independence and disrupting the process of exchange and cooperation between the institution and Iran,” Alaghushi added in a post written in Persian on Thursday.
“The Cairo Agreement, which is no longer the basis of safeguards relations between Iran and the IAEA following the illegal action of the three European members of the UN Security Council to return the revoked Security Council resolution, announced today in an official letter to the IAEA Director-General that the agreement is no longer in force and is considered terminated,” the Iranian minister concluded.
