With this victory, Iran gained three points and moved one point ahead of their opponent on Sunday, defending champions Wuhan Jiangda Women’s FC from China.
According to the-afc.com, Nasaf opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a free kick from Makhtuna Shoimova, which was headed wide by Diyorahon Habibullaeva, and the Uzbek team took control in the early stages.
Against the run of play, Fatemeh Gelaeli made a perfect pass behind the Nasaf defence, setting Salah Didar’s pace past Grace Adams, before Bam Khatoon opened the scoring four minutes later.
Iranian keeper Yazdani made perhaps her best save in the 40th minute, showing great athleticism to stop Natalia Simakina’s close-range header with one hand.
After the interval, Nasaf took up position in Bam Khatun’s half, but despite dominating the ball, Shoimova only had two shots from distance, which were easily dealt away by Yazdani.
Seeing that the team was scoring very few goals, Nasaf’s head coach Khan Vladislav dropped center back Adams and replaced him with attacker Mehrivon Eganberdieva.
However, Nasaf’s relentless pressure went unrewarded and Bam Khatoon defended tenaciously to preserve the victory.
