Russia’s Sputnik news agency reported that the company TR6Petro India LLP is on a list of 17 entities and individuals sanctioned by the US government for their involvement in illegal oil trade with Iran.
According to a statement from the US State Department, these sanctions are aimed at curbing revenue streams used by Iran to fund its controversial nuclear program.
The ministry further said that the entities on the list enable Iran to raise funds through deceptive means, such as facilitating the transportation and sale of Iranian oil under fraudulent pretenses.
“Today, the State Department has designated 17 entities, individuals, and vessels to block revenue streams used by the Iranian regime to advance its nuclear program and to enable shipping intermediaries in multiple jurisdictions to load and transport Iranian crude oil for sale to buyers through obfuscation and deception,” the U.S. State Department said in a statement.
TR6 Petro India LLP, an India-based petroleum products trader, was cited for importing $8 million worth of Iranian asphalt between October 2024 and June 2025. The US State Department accused the company of “knowingly” participating in oil trade with Iran despite existing sanctions and imposed penalties as a result.
The United States has been trying hard to eliminate Iran’s oil revenues, but its illegal efforts have proven unsuccessful. Despite the Trump administration’s intensified campaign against Iran, crude oil exports to China have increased to record levels in the past few months, according to statistics released by various international organizations.
