Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi said in an interview with Mehr News Agency that the Iranian military is steadily increasing the country’s missile capabilities.
Shekarchi stressed that Iran’s missile program is on a continued growth trajectory. “We are experiencing progress every day in this area and we are certainly stronger today than yesterday and tomorrow will be stronger than today,” he said.
He also emphasized the fundamental role of the late Revolutionary Guard Aerospace Forces commander, especially the late Brigadier General Hassan Tehrani Moghaddam, in establishing the structure of Iran’s missile program. Shekarchi said Tehrani Moghaddam “laid the foundations of this power and laid the foundations for Iran’s rise in this area.”
Last week, the commander of Tehran’s Revolutionary Guards said Iran’s missile capabilities were “uncontainable” and noted that the enemy had shown miscalculations during the 12-day war. Brigadier General Hassan Hasanzadeh said that one of the key factors behind Iran’s great achievements is the country’s abiding hope for its future. Hassanzadeh said the 12-day war brought a “complete and honorable victory” to the Iranian state, the Islamic revolution and Islam, while inflicting a lasting and bitter defeat on its enemies, including global arrogance, the United States and the Israeli regime. He said he believes adversaries can neutralize Iran’s missile power at the point of origin, intercept any launches en route, and use a unified global air defense system to control missiles reaching occupied territory.
On June 13, while Washington and Tehran were in the process of nuclear negotiations, Israel launched a blatant and unprovoked invasion of Iran. The Israeli attack sparked a 12-day war that left at least 1,064 people dead in the country, including military commanders, nuclear scientists and civilians. The United States also entered the war by bombing three Iranian nuclear facilities in a serious violation of international law. In response, Iranian forces targeted strategic locations throughout the occupied territories, as well as Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, the largest US military base in West Asia. On June 24, Iran successfully thwarted the invasion through successful retaliatory operations against both the Israeli regime and the United States.
