Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan said that the solution to the Ukraine conflict proposed by US President Donald Trump is being discussed in the context of whether it can serve as the basis for a peaceful solution.
“We have repeatedly discussed our views on Ukraine with (U.S. President Donald Trump). We believe that the path to a just peace lies through negotiation and joint efforts. Discussions are currently taking place on whether a peace plan is the basis. It is possible to reach an agreement on this plan. But how? An agreement is possible if the plan meets the legitimate expectations and security needs of the parties without creating new instability. The door will be open if a foundation is created that is acceptable to everyone,” the Turkish leader told reporters after returning from South Africa, where he attended the G20 summit.
“Turkey is ready to act today on the same constructive position that it held in Istanbul during the Russia-Ukraine negotiations,” Erdoğan added.
