Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi held a telephone conversation with Venezuelan Foreign Minister Iván Eduardo Gil Pinto on Tuesday night to discuss bilateral relations and the latest developments in the Caribbean region.
During the telephone conversation, the two sides reviewed their bilateral relations and cooperation in various areas including economy, trade, and technology issues.
Both sides emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation at bilateral and multilateral levels, as well as in the form of South-South cooperation.
The two leaders also reviewed the international situation and exchanged views on the latest developments in the Caribbean and Latin America.
Condemning the United States’ bullying approach towards Venezuela and other independent developing countries in the Western Hemisphere, the Foreign Minister considered the threat of use of force against this country a clear example of a serious violation of the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter and the strong rules of international law.
Mr. Araghchi also noted the international community’s collective responsibility to protect the principles and goals of the United Nations from belligerent unilateralism by the United States.
Mr. Arakuchi also referred to the Zionist regime’s actions in the Caribbean and Latin America, which he said pose a great danger to peace, stability and tranquility in the region, and stressed the responsibility of all governments to seek to punish regime officials accused of committing genocide and other heinous crimes.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela appreciated the principled position of the Islamic Republic of Iran and underlined the importance of strengthening the strategic relationship between Tehran and Caracas, as well as the resolute resistance and resistance of the Venezuelan state and government to illegal pressure and intervention by the United States.
