According to the Tehran Times, Iran came close to taking the lead in the 19th minute after Palestinian goalkeepers Hamza Sobie and Mustafa Alkabra got in each other’s way and Jafar Asadi nodded towards goal, but Talal Ahmed was in position to clear the line.
Palestine took the lead in the 43rd minute with Jamal Obaid’s thunderous shot, which was initially saved by Mohamadaha Kaviani, but the clearance went straight to Adam Kafafi, who slotted it past Bardiya Dori and into the bottom corner.
Iran equalized just four minutes after the restart, as Asadi latched onto a pass from full-back Alkabra from behind and placed himself with a precise low curler past Sobie’s outstretched hand, the-afc.com reported.
The Central Asian team scored again in the 68th minute with a brilliant lunge from Abbas Rafi, who released Asadi into space and curled the ball into the far corner.
Four minutes later, Mahan Beheshti completed the comeback by darting past three markers into the box and firing into the bottom corner.
Iran will play hosts India on Sunday and advance to the knockout stage with a draw.
