Venezuelan Foreign Minister Ivan Gil said in remarks published in Al Mayadeen newspaper that on behalf of the Venezuelan government and the Venezuelan president, he would like to express his heartfelt gratitude to Iran for condemning the US move to declare the closure of Venezuelan airspace.
He said Iran’s “courageous stand” in defending Venezuela’s national sovereignty and regional security resonates deeply with the Venezuelan people.
Gil added that violations of international law remain a common concern for Caracas and Tehran, noting that the two countries are united in the struggle for a “just and dignified world.”
His comments came hours after Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baghai condemned the U.S. president’s decision to close Venezuelan airspace, calling it a blatant violation of fundamental international legal norms, including standards governing international air traffic.
