Marking the 58th anniversary of the expulsion of the British occupiers from their country, Yemenis underlined their readiness for a new confrontation with their enemies with mass demonstrations under the slogan “Freedom of choice is ours and the occupiers are doomed to fail.”
To commemorate the 58th anniversary of the expulsion of the last British occupiers from the city of Aden, known as ‘Eid al-Independence’, thousands of Yemenis took to the streets of Sanaa’s al-Sabeen Square in a massive demonstration in response to the call of Abdul Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi leader of Yemen’s Ansar-le Resistance Movement and others.
Deputy Chairman of the Shura Council Daif Allah Rasam congratulated the Yemeni people on the occasion and praised them for fighting a heroic battle against the British colonizers and against new invaders and occupiers, Al-Masira reported.
Mr. Rassam confirmed Yemen’s tribes’ readiness to join the struggle to liberate the “occupied provinces,” referring to the eastern and southern regions under the control of the Saudi-led coalition.
Hadramawt Governor Lukman Baras stressed that the celebrations take place amidst regional and international developments that require unity and cohesion to protect the country’s sovereignty.
The Sana’a government held celebrations on Saturday to mark the 58th anniversary of Independence Day (November 30), which marks the departure of the last British soldiers from southern Yemen.
