The two men will meet after U.S. and Ukrainian officials negotiated a U.S. plan that Washington wants to use as a basis for ending fighting between Moscow and Kiev.
“A meeting with Mr. Witkov is scheduled for tomorrow,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters at a briefing Monday, according to AFP news agency.
He added that that would happen “later in the day.”
President Putin last week reiterated his calls for Moscow to halt the attacks. It demanded that Kiev vacate territory that Moscow claims as its own, or its troops would seize it by force.
Witkov met Putin several times in the Kremlin.
The United States’ original plan to end the war is widely seen as respecting many of the Kremlin’s demands, and he has faced criticism for his stance in talks with Russia.
The EU said next week could be a “very important” week for Ukraine.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy visited Paris on Monday in a bid to drum up European support for Kiev, while US President Donald Trump expressed optimism about the possibility of a deal to end nearly four years of war.
