Speaking at the D8 Cairo Summit, he said that over the past five years, Iran’s trade with D8 countries was $22 billion.
With its rich resources, young population and strategic location, the D-8 organization has a unique and unparalleled ability to become an influential economic hub on the international stage, the TPOI Director emphasized.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Dehghan-Dehnabi referred to preferential trade agreements (PTAs), adding that Iran implemented PTAs with D8 countries in 2016 to strengthen trade relations with these countries.
He, who is also Deputy Minister of Industry, said upgraded preferential trade agreements could provide a valuable basis for achieving deeper economic integration.
The Islamic Republic of Iran is committed to establishing constructive cooperation within the framework of the D-8, despite facing unilateral and brutal sanctions by the United States.
He expressed his hope for further expansion of trade and economic relations between Iran and the D8 member states.
The D-8 Economic Cooperation Organization, also known as Developing-8, is an organization for development cooperation between Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Turkey.
