The holding of the fifth meeting of the joint working group between Iran and the Russian Federation in the field of communications resulted in the signing of 20 memoranda of understanding and five agreements between the parties, opening a new chapter between the two countries in the development of bilateral technical relations.
The signing ceremony was attended by Iran’s Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), members of the private sector, and the special envoy to Moscow.
Meisam Abedi, Deputy Minister of Innovation and Technology at Iran’s Ministry of Information and Communications Technology (ICT), pointed to areas of cooperation between the two countries, saying, “In the past few years, the development of exchanges has been pursued in the fields of data transfer, smart government, and postal infrastructure. In addition to these areas, the Iranian private sector has signed specific agreements with the Russian side on issues such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), production of infrastructure equipment, and joint projects.”
He said a total of 20 memoranda of understanding and five contracts have been signed between the two countries, adding that the scope of cooperation is expected to expand in the coming years.
Kazem Jalali, Iran’s Special Envoy to Moscow, said that good results were achieved at the fifth meeting of the Iran-Russia Joint Working Group in the ICT field.
The 5th Iran-Russia Joint Working Cooperation Group concluded its work on Friday with the signing and sealing of an intergovernmental memorandum of understanding (MoU).
